Lay Off's

Michigan and Rhode Island once again led the nation with the highest jobless rates at 10.6% and 10% respectively. Rhode Island's rate is the highest in more than three decades.

The national unemployment rate rose to 7.2% in December, up from 6.8% the previous month and from 4.9% a year earlier.

On Monday alone, companies announced more than 71,000 job cuts... so over 71,000 people were laid off from there 'good' job.....

President Obama is pushing for quick passage of an $825 billion package it hopes will stimulate the economy and promote job growth.

"Just this week, we saw more people file for unemployment than at any time in the last 26 years, and experts agree that if nothing is done, the unemployment rate could reach double digits," Obama said Saturday. "If we do not act boldly and swiftly, a bad situation could become dramatically worse."

So I am wondering would you take a 20% pay cut for your co-worker to keep their job?

Barack Obama: Inauguration Day 2009

At 12:00 noon on Inauguration Day 2009 (Tuesday, January 20, 2009, as set by the Twentieth Amendment to the U.S. Constitution), Barack Obama will become the 44th President of the United States.
Obama is a graduate of Columbia University and Harvard Law School, where he was the first African-American president of the Harvard Law Review. He worked as a community organizer, and practiced as a civil rights attorney in Chicago before serving three terms in the Illinois Senate from 1997 to 2004. He also taught constitutional law at the University of Chicago Law School from 1992 to 2004. Following an unsuccessful bid for a seat in the U.S. House of Representatives in 2000, Obama was elected to the Senate in November 2004. Classic Barack 2004

BARACK OBAMA SPEAKS AT THE DEMOCRATIC NATIONAL CONVENTION IN 2004!!!!!
I heard this speech this morning in the car and though it is long it is worth listening to again! It's hard to think that he might of known that he would run 4 years later but if he did know he delivered a great speech in 04! Way to go Barack! He set it up then and he spoke about a "And fellow Americans, Democrats, Republicans, independents, I say to you, tonight, we have more work to do...... more work to do, for the workers I met in Galesburg, Illinois, who are losing their union jobs at the Maytag plant that's moving to Mexico, and now they're having to compete with their own children for jobs that pay 7 bucks an hour;........Well, I say to them tonight, there's not a liberal America and a conservative America; there's the United States of America. There's not a black America and white America and Latino America and Asian America; there's the United States of America."
Read the speech here!

Great speech...... and go vote! I have never felt the sense of urgency to go vote ever! And last week I went and early voted, stood in line for only an hour but I did my civic duty!!!!! I want change too and though I know that change starts within, I believe that we all must do what we HAVE to do and let the chips fall as they may tomorrow!!! NOV 4th is Election Day so to my fellow Americans please DO WHAT YOU NEED TO DO!!!!!!!
