"Excuse me sir, can you move for Ms. Daisy!"

So here is the scenario: You and your male friends are out having drinks and the bartender asks you to move for a two white ladies? What do you do? O and did I mention that it is you and your other African American friends, your at a bar filled with other men that could be asked and its August 2008. Well that was the case the other night at Tavern in Phipps...

Former NBA all-star Joe Barry Carroll claims in a lawsuit that he was humiliated and traumatized by the way he was treated in a Buckhead restaurant.

They both ordered drinks and food.
A short time later, a bartender asked them to give up their seats for two white women. There were "several white males" also at the bar, but none of them was asked to move, the suit says.

Carroll and friend politely declined, but the bartender told them it was the Tavern's custom for men to give up their seats at the bar to women, the suit says. Carroll and Shaw were then told repeatedly by two other Tavern employees to give up their seats, while none of the white men at the bar was asked to do so, the suit says.

Carroll and friend, saying they wanted to finish their meal, still declined to leave their seats at the bar. So the Tavern management called a security guard who escorted the two men out of the restaurant, the suit says.

After a hearing, the panel found the Tavern discriminated against the men on the basis of their gender "and, arguably, their race."

I wish they would have gotten some of this on tape so the word could be uploaded on youtube and spread quicker. Did the restaurant have any defense in court for the charges? My goodness ... the dirty south ...(but lets not be fooled into thinking it only happens in the South).

yeah i know tape, probably the last thing that was on their mind but it would of been nice!

i haven't been to tavern in soooo long and um yeah now i know why!

this is ridiculous but i'm wondering would a normal black man sue if they did the same thing; or is it 'such' a BIG deal because he is a NBA All-star?

Or i should be wondering how many have sued before and we didn't know about it?
