Steve Harvey's Mentoring Weekend Donate Now

Mr. Harvey has challenged himself to ride a stationary bicycle for 4 hours everyday that he is in the studio. At first he was only going to do it for 3 months but he realized that the need to help young boys is very serious in America!

I told myself that I would find a cause and stick to it; last year I helped in the First Annual Steve Harvey Mentorship Weekend in Dallas and I vowed to help again this year! If you are trying to make a difference and are looking for a cause, I challenge you to donate $100 to the cause. To read more please go Steve Harvey Foundation.com and for more specific information on the weekend click here Steve Harvey Mentor Weekend!

$100 - Can be broken down into just $25 a week!!!

Since 2001 the Steve Harvey Foundation has given over $400,000 to schools and organizations in the United States and the Caribbean. Thank you for your support! Click here to donate!

Check the Stats:

Prisonsucks.com is a clearinghouse for useful, verifiable statistics about the crime control industry. Too often prison activists use statistics that are out of date, provided without citation or simply wrong. One of these days the public will start listening to prison activists, so let's be prepared to win without being sidetracked by arguments over defective statistics. In some cases, the numbers we need don't exist. In others, the facts exist but activists don't know where to find them. Now you do.

Incarceration is not an equal opportunity punishment

On December 31, 2005, there were 2,193,798 people in U.S. prisons and jails. The United States incarcerates a greater share of its population, 737 per 100,000 residents, than any other country on the planet. But when you break down the statistics you see that incarceration is not an equal opportunity punishment.

Look at just the males by race, and the incarceration rates become even more frightening, June 30, 2006:
  • White males: 736 per 100,000
  • Latino males: 1,862 per 100,000
  • Black males: 4,789 per 100,000

If you look at males aged 25-29 and by race, you can see what is going on even clearer, June 30, 2006:

  • For White males ages 25-29: 1,685 per 100,000.
  • For Latino males ages 25-29: 3,912 per 100,000.
  • For Black males ages 25-29: 11,695 per 100,000. (That's 11.7% of Black men in their late 20s.)

Short VS Long

Lord, knows I loved my hair short! And I came across a picture the other day that made me think about it though I know I won't..... It's easy to just put your hair in a ponytail but when your hair is this short you don't have to worry about that. There are so many reasons short hair was easy to manage but....

But I thought that I would ask your opinions.... Have a great day!

J. Street and J. Street Clothing

My name is Julian Streete, and Im a business major from Houston, Texas. I started my first business in 2004 "J Street Clothing" which turned into "JStreet Apparel & Branding". Primarily, I sale wholesale apparel and do freelance graphic design. I don't even have a website, however strong contacts and word of mouth keep me pretty busy. Last summer I interned for Ogilvy & Mather in NYC, which is one of the largest advertising companies in the world.

My internship exposed me to the wonderful science of branding and that is where my passion is. I recently partnered with another student at Morehouse to create "The Follow Me Tee". www.thefollowmetee.com. The follow me tee is simply the "@" sigh with your username on the front of a t-shirt with the "follow me" call to action on the back. The Follow Me Tee is for the twitter enthusiast who wants a practical way to market their twitter account. "The Follow Me Tee" is also for groups and organizations who promote their cause through twitter. We sale wholesale follow me tees to bands, non profit organizations, schools, or anyone looking for ways to promote.

Right now I love life, and I want to learn and build as much as I can, while I can.

****Here are a few questions that I asked J. Street to answer:

> Why are you on Twitter?
I joined Twitter June 2008 to network, promote and learn. I follow some of my favorite authors on Twitter and try to engage them in conversation. I love the open dialogue that you can have with just about anyone.

> What made J. Street follow U Bring Me Joi?
I followed you from a follow Friday suggestion. When I went to your page I noticed you were very career driven, wise and you had a positive attitude. Who doesn't want #positivity in their news feed!

> What are your goals for 2009?
For 2009 I plan to finish school, build a stronger list of professional clients for J. Street Apparel & Branding and sale a couple thousand FollowMeTees to Twitter enthusiast and various organizations.

> How do you feel Twitter can help you accomplish these goals?
I believe that twitter is "the new word of mouth". So as long as we deliver great products and services, people will tweet about it and our message will spread.

D Lamar - Singer/Lyricist

D Lamar (singer/lyricist) from Northern California. Hoping to alter reality as I know it through my musical artistry. I believe anything is possible with guidance, and faith in the Lord. If it is his will, it will be done.

Why are you on Twitter?
I am on twitter to meet, and build a wonderful and beautiful network of smiling people! I am 100% real with every tweet (update) it gets personal, at times, but the main focus, is to share myself with the new coined "twitterverse". I aim to be the regular famous guy, lol.

What made you follow me?
I followed you because I had seen a few conversations going back and forth with you, and of course you were beautiful...I continue following you, because you seem very approachable, honest, and positive, qualities, I believe I have as well. And when you went on to say, you would write a piece on your blog, you were locked in forever!

What are your goals for 2009?
My goals for 2009, are to finish a full recording project of 20 songs. 5 r&b, 5 rock, 5 rap, and 5 mixed (features, etc). Also I plan to finish a fan and music website, and begin booking shows, for more exposure.

How do you feel Twitter can help you accomplish these goals?
I believe twitter will help me achieve certain aspects of these goals, because so far, I have met quite a few helpful people, even if its honest critiques on my music, or advice, on what to do with my music career. As well as found new friends, who are slowly becoming fans. Twitter is and will expose me to many different people in the business. It allows me to easily send links to modeling pictures, websites, and most of all direct links to my music. Feedback is always welcome.
