Wow, Look At Him Now: Gary Dourdan

So what happened to Gary Dourdan? I'm sure we all remember him from "A Different World", "New York Undercover", Janet's Video, CSI, he played in "A Perfect Stranger" as Halle's ex man etc.

Gary Robert Durdin (he changed his surname when he started acting) was born on 11 December 1966, the second youngest of five children by Robert and Sandy Durdin. Tragedy hit Gary at the tender age of 6 when his beloved older brother Darryl (age 23) while researching the French lineage of his father, was pushed to his death off a motel balcony on a high cliff in Haiti. The Haitian authorities had no motive or suspects in the case and thirty years on the case still remains unsolved.

MTV Cribs

Um yeah so I was flipping through the channels and I came across Cribs, I have not seen any of them lately so I figured I'd check it out. To my surprise I have heard that they have changed their rules, no more borrowing someone's crib. So this leaves us to the rapper Huey that was featured, wow! He has a nice personality, he showed off his daughter, Lawryn, and we were able to meet his mother... Oh by now you are wondering why I have not mentioned the reason that he was on the show because of his Crib um yeah ...lol!

Well you didn't miss much he showed off his townhouse in St. Louis but there was not much to show, I think that his 2 chargers and the chain on his neck cost more than the Crib.Huey on MTV Cribs
Why do people invest in something that depreciates as soon as you drive it off the lot and not into a nice Crib? Just wondering.

Spoof Ads Featuring Mr. West

Puffy has a $100 million deal to promote Ciroc vodka and Kanye West is the face of Absolut in new egocentric ads that don’t even reveal they’re promoting anything more than Kanye-ness.
bekanye.jpg
There are new “Be Kanye” spoof ads featuring little tablets that promise to turn you into Kanye West that are actually ads for Absolut. According to the “Be Kanye” ads, vodka can solve all your problems and make you rich, arrogant and attractive to women. Because all you need to do to feel good about yourself is get wasted.

Granted you have to google and visit the website to see the ads to realize that they’re substituting little pills for vodka and making it seem like a cure all. Removing the product from the ad makes you do that extra bit of work that supposedly connects you to the brand or whatever marketing people would call it in that ridiculous jargon-filled way that they speak. JayBird said she saw these ads a couple weeks ago in NY and looked them up at home. They must be effective because JayBird did it and here we are giving them free advertising.

When Diddy did a presumably blind taste test on Ellen of four different vodkas he made a face at the vodka that turned out to be Absolut and had trouble telling the difference between Ketel One and Ciroc, saying they both went down well. That was more convincing to me than these ads, because I care if a vodka tastes smooth and helps me preserve the sexy. I want to be me, but with a buzz and without a hangover the next day.

Kimora Puts Her Foot Down, lol!

As an ex-model and current fashion designer, Kimora Lee Simmons has learned a lot about clothing over the years – including what not to let daughters Ming, 8, and Aoki, 5, wear.

"I would not let my daughters show their midriff," she said this week at the New York City launch of her new juniors line at JCPenney. It was even tough for her to see Ming in her halter dress. "That's a lot for me," she admitted.

"I feel like I've exposed my kids to a lot," Simmons said of her parenting philosophy. "We do lead a very high-voltage life so we have to taper back in other ways."

It's an attitude Simmons, 33, shares with her boyfriend, actor and model Djimon Honsou, 44. "He's very protective of them," she said.
Honsou certainly acted like a member of the family at the launch party at Hiro. He hugged Aoki, and quickly swept the girls away from the cameras while their mother answered questions on the red carpet.

Simmons and Honsou also work together to balance family and career. "We help each other do everything," Simmons said. "He's very supportive."

Honsou also helped Simmons deal with the aftermath of her divorce from mogul Russell Simmons, 50, the father of Ming and Aoki. "I know that women everywhere, especially with kids, understand what I'm saying. It's difficult when you go through a break-up, and it's heavenly to find a supportive system," she said.
People.com

I wonder if they are going to be like Bruce, Demi and Ashton? Do you think that Russell could handle it? or Do you think that Kimora could not?

"Hollywood" Marriages: What Makes Them Work Or Not

Marriage is a sacred union between a loving couple until death do them part! Well so that's what I thought. . .yet, in the Hollywood it seems that most marriages end before the honeymoon does, lol.

The probability of a celebrity marriage surviving is only 35%, according to Enotalone.com. For the most part, celebrity marriages do not have the fairy tale or "movie ending" fans hope they will. Rates of divorce may seem higher in Hollywood than they actually are due to the heavy publicity they receive. It is more likely that you heard about Robin Wright Penn and Sean Penn's split (after 11 years of marriage) rather than your neighbor's divorce.

Hollywood may even hold the record for the shortest marriages in history, or annulments for that matter. Nicky Hilton and Todd Meister were married for only three months, Renee Zellweger and Kenny Chesney were married for 128 days, Pamela Anderson and Rick Salomon lasted two months, and Britney Spears and Jason Alexander take the "wedding" cake for a marriage lasting only 55 hours.

Some surprising Hollywood divorces include Bruce Willis and Demi Moore in 2000 after 13 years (I was a fan of their marriage :-(, Nicole Kidman and Tom Cruise's 2001 split after 11 of marriage, Eddie Murphy and Nicole Mitchell's 2006 divorce after 13 years of marriage, and Reese Witherspoon and Ryan Phillippe's divorce in 2007 after eight years of marriage. Who saw those coming?

But why do most Hollywood marriages end in divorce? Is it the overexposure in the media, or are celebrity marriages a power statement like when the two most popular high school students date? Marriage requires work, which can be hard if you are never together.

Some celebrity couples fall in love while they are filming a movie and can't decipher the difference between lust and true love. If they are playing a married couple in a movie and they do it so convincingly, why not do it for real? lol! It has to work out as it did in the movie, right? Not so much. If Ryan Gosling and Rachel McAdams couldn't make their relationship work after "The Notebook", then what makes Jennifer Aniston and Vince Vaughn, think their relationship would last?!

There is always someone hotter, younger and more tempting in Hollywood that may distract stars from their marriages. There has to some major factor that is tearing these Hollywood couples apart! Maybe their expectations are too high. Is being married to Brad Pitt or Tom Cruise, or for the men Halle Berry or Tracey Edmonds not all it is cracked up to be? I wonder!

Then there are some Hollywood couples who simply follow trends and if it is trendy to get married they'll jump right on that bus with no sight of consequence ahead. And why not with divorce so easily accessible then what are the consequences ("I have money and fame who doesn't want to be with me," do you think that this could possibly be a thought in their head?) It may be stereotypical, but celebrities are generally narcissistic (Imagine that). When two rich and famous egos get together who humbles themselves to whom; I wonder do they ever argue about how the bills are going to get paid? ;-)

But for every divorce, there are a handful of Hollywood couples that seem to make against all odds. Paul Newman and Joanne Woodward have been married for 50 years, Danny DeVito and Rhea Perlman have been married for 26 years, Tom Hanks and Rita Wilson are still in love after 19 years, and Melanie Griffith and Antonio Banderas for 11 years.

Also still in marital bliss, John Travolta and Kelly Preston for 16 years, Kevin Bacon and Kyra Sedgwick for 19 years, Michael J. Fox and Tracy Pollan also for 19 years, Denzel Washington and his wife Paulette for 24 years, Mel Gibson and his wife Robyn for 27 years, Patrick Swayze and Lisa Niemi for 33 years, and Bill Cosby and his wife Camille for 44 years.

I guess there is a happy ending after all. . . What do you think?

Will There Be a MTV comeback for Brit?

Britney Spears has been below the radar lately and could it be because she is looking back to her old self and it seems the people who matter are taking notice.

Bosses at MTV could be set to ask her to return to September’s Video Music Awards despite her disastrous performance just a year ago.

She gave a out of time and horrible rendition of single "Gimme More" at the bash in Las Vegas. And was later spotted crying backstage, I wonder why?!

So could we be about to witness another Brit "Let's Call it A Comeback” in many years?

MTV president Van Toffler revealed: “Everyone deserves a second or third chance, right?”

Well I do hope Britney gets it right and keeps it tight this time. Otherwise she might not get that third and final strike before she’s down and out! ;-)

Will Smith's Done It Again!

Who would ever think that he would be flying around in the air with a bottle in his hand and cussin on screen?! "The People's Choice" If you have not gone to go see this one then you are a little too late. . .

Will Smith stars as Hancock, a disgruntled, conflicted, sarcastic and misunderstood superhero whose well-intentioned heroics might get the job done and save countless lives, but always seem to leave jaw-dropping damage in their wake.

Oh and don't forget to bring some tissue cause this one might leave you a lil' emotional at the end ;-)

"A Milli Hot or Not BEFORE Wayne?"

"A Milli" produced by Bangladesh (check out his Myspace page); I remember the first time that I heard the song (and it wasn't on the radio) and I wondered when it was going to end, the repetition was nerve racking and I wondered, "Is this the way the song is really going to sound?" Fortunately for the masses my opinion doesn't matter much because everyone loves the song (and I must admit it grew on me). But I'm wondering do they love the song because of Wayne and his undeniable swag, the lyrics he spits on the track, or is it because of the beat?

Cause I'm trying to understand if anyone realizes that the beat is not hot??? The song is hot because Wayne is on it (imagine that), the beat retains some of that energy, but without Wayne, the beat would not be all that everyone is making it out to be!

You know how beats sometimes sit around and wait for the right owner well this is one of those beats and thank goodness it did because before Wayne, when it was on Bangladesh's group, everybody hated it!! So its amazing that its getting all of this hype now. . .

The music industry its hilarious some of the same artists who despise the new trend of ultra-simplicity in southern production and who who hated on snap music are embracing what might be the simplest beat ever released (and I'm not saying that simple is bad, I'm just trying to make a point).

He has been noted for having produced and maybe even brought back Kelis with "Bossy," has worked with Ludacris on "What's Yo Fantasy?" Petey Pablo's "Vibrate," and also 8Ball and MJG "Don't Make Me." And lets not forget his other 2008 joint "Talking Out The Side of Your Neck" by Dem Franchize Boyz (possibly the biggest flop of the summer). Which I wonder if we had heard Wayne on that beat first would it have been the smash that a milli is?

Here is a brief excerpt from Bangladesh explaining the track which by the way he never even sat down with Wayne to do, Shanell (singer and current member of "The Girls Club") slipped the track to Wayne.
"He switched it up and tried to make it “ill.” If that was somebody else, it wouldn’t be on the radio. They just f*ck with Wayne regardless. That right there makes me like that sh*t, because it’s against the grain and it’s working. That sh*t’s no format. A n*gg* went in, free styled, and that sh*t’s all over the radio. And it’s the hottest beat in hip-hop right now. Every time I turn on Rap City, they in the booth rapping to the beat," Bangladesh. The Rhapsody: Behind The Carter III

So the question behind the post is. . . What do you think? I'm truly interested; do you like the beat or do you only bob your head to the track cause of Wayne?

Your 'Wanted' at the movies. . . A Must See

Wanted is a 2008 action film loosely based on the comic book miniseries Wanted by Mark Millar. The film is directed by Timur Bekmambetov and stars James McAvoy, Morgan Freeman, Thomas Kretschmann, Konstantin Khabensky and Angelina Jolie. Production began in April 2007. Wanted was released on June 27, 2008 in the US.
In its opening weekend, Wanted grossed $50.9 million in 3,175 theaters in the United States and Canada, ranking #2 at the box office and averaged an estimated $16,100 per theater, the $50.9 million opening exceeded the analysts projections of $30-$35 million opening weekend! Wanted grossed more in its opening weekend than any previous live-action film starring Angelina Jolie. It has grossed a total of $83,177,985 worldwide so far.

So with all of that said and done I loved it! I was on the edge of my seat eating popcorn and raisinets (if you have not tried it, it is the BEST) wondering what was going to happen next. It was a good mix of characters and action, it was like The Matrix meets The Transporter meets Mission Impossible meets. . .
It's a must see and maybe more than once! :-)
